Are estimates free?
Yes. The site visit and quote are free, with no obligation. I visit homes in Edinburgh and the surrounding area, the visit usually takes under 30 minutes, and I usually send the quote within 3 days. You only pay if you choose to go ahead.
Are you licensed?
Yes. I hold a valid painter licence and can show it at the site visit. I'm a self-employed handyman and painter based in Clovenstone, Edinburgh, and I do the work myself.
Which areas do you cover?
I cover Edinburgh and towns within 20 miles of the city centre. I'm based in Clovenstone, Edinburgh. The map on this page shows the area and every town in it. Man and van moves can also go long distance.
How long does a kitchen take?
Usually 2-5 weeks. Layout changes, plumbing and electrical work, and material lead times move it up or down. Your quote includes a schedule, so you know the start date and the finish date before you commit.
Does my job need a building warrant?
Most of my work doesn't. If yours does, I'll tell you at the site visit and explain what's needed before you commit. You'll know where you stand before any work starts.
Can we live at home during the work?
Usually, yes. I seal work areas with dust sheets, protect floors and clean up every evening. My Old Town whole-home renovation in Edinburgh was done room by room over 14 weeks while the family lived there.
How do payments work?
A deposit books your start date, then you pay in stages tied to finished milestones. You never pay ahead of the work. The stages are agreed in your quote.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every job comes with a warranty on my workmanship. The length depends on the job and is agreed before work starts. Manufacturer warranties on products pass on to you.
Do you take small repair jobs?
Yes. Repairs are a regular part of my week, from leaks and rot to broken fixtures, doors and windows. Small jobs are welcome. Send photos with your request and I can often quote without a visit.
